Part used: leaves
What is Aegeline(Aegle marmelos Correa extract)
Aegeline, according to Wikipedia, isolated from the leaves of Aegle marmelos Correa extract. The phytochemical and biological activity studies of various extracts of different parts of Aegle marmelos have been reported. Numerous compounds have been isolated with alkaloids and coumarin derivatives as the major constituents. Aegeline, also known as N-[2-hydroxy-2(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]-3-phenyl-2-propenamide, was isolated from the leaves, whereas skimmianine was obtained from the roots.
Aegle marmelos Correa, also named as Crataeva marmelos Linn and Crataeva religiosa Ainslie, is a plant belonging to Rutaceae family. This plant originates from and grows widely in some areas of the Southeast and South Asia countries such as India, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam and China. Broadly speaking, Aegle marmelos leaves contained γ-sitosterol, aegelin, lupeol, rutin, marmesinin, β-sitosterol, flavone, glycoside, O-isopentenyl halfordiol, marmeline and phenylethyl cinnamamides
When we talk about aegeline, we have to talk about usplabs who first put aegeline as an ingredient in the sports formula. To be specific, in the current hot-selling products like USP Labs VERSA-1 and New OxyElite Pro.
Working principle of aegeline from leaves of Aegle marmelos Correa
How does aegeline work? It works in a few ways, one of which is via Beta-3 agonism. β3 receptors are mostly in adipose (fat) tissue, and these receptors help in the regulation of lipolysis (fat burning) and thermogenesis (production of heat/energy!)
This isn’t the strongest way to burn fat in humans (it’s more powerful in other species), but it still helps, especially when combined with the other mechanisms that work very strong in humans. Basically, a trifecta is being played thanks to Aegeline.
Health Benefits of Aegeline(Aegle marmelos Correa extract)
Benefits of taking aegeline supplements:
Aegle marmelos Correa has several pharmacological activities such as antiproliferative, anti-inflammatory, antipyretic, analgesic, anti-oxidant, antifungal, hypoglycemic. Traditional uses include a remedy for stomach disorder such as dysentery, cholera and constipation, as medicine for some ailments such as to treat intermittent fever and as a fish poison, used for fertility control, also as remedy for diabetes.
But in modern times, aegeline is widely used in sports nutrition supplement industry for bodybuilding, weight loss as a new anabolic. The key benefits of aegeline are summarized as below:
1. Suppress appetite.
Unlike other appetite suppressor ingredients used in supplements, Aegeline works in a different way. It targets an empty stomach. As food leaves the stomach, gastric acid secretion slows down, but is still produced at a slower rate. This eventually builds up and the gastric acid actually triggers the “hunger response.” Ignoring it through willpower or using appetite suppressors that make you forget to eat is a bad thing! That gastric acid will remain there gnawing away your stomach lining. Aegeline works to suppress the appetite naturally by stopping gastric acid secretion. In fact, as the source of Aegeline, Aegle Marmelos has been used as an herbal remedy for treating ulcers in ancient China and Asia for a pretty long time.
Aegeline causes a release of Histamine which can control appetite. You might know the word ‘histamine’ from TV commercials, but the most important study behind the use of this ingredient revolves around the fact that histamine helps regulate bodyweight via inhibiting appetite. This is apparently what will replace the appetite suppression of DMAA. When you got aegeline, you can forget about DMAA or 1,3 dimethylamylamine.
2.Lose weight
N-[2-hydroxy-2(4-methoxyphenyl)ethyl]-3-phenyl-2-propenamide, or Aegeline, is touted by USPLabs to have a strong anabolic affect on users. This is by its purported ability to act as a beta(3)-AR agonist. To make it simple, adrenoceptor beta 3 is “located mainly in the adipose tissue and is involved in the regulation of lipolysis and thermogenesis.” Therefore, an agonist of this receptor would pose anabolic effects. Studies have been conducted that have shown there is possibly a correlation between Aegeline and it being a beta(3)-AR agonist:“From the leaves of A. marmelos an alkaloidal-amide, Aegeline 2, was isolated and found to have antihyperglycemic activity as evidenced by lowering the blood glucose levels by 12.9% and 16.9% at 5 and 24h, respectively, in sucrose challenged streptozotocin induced diabetic rats (STZ-S) model at the dose of 100mg/kg body weight. Aegeline 2 has also significantly decreased the plasma triglyceride (Tg) levels by 55% (P<0.001), total cholesterol (TC) by 24% (P<0.05), and free fatty acids (FFA) by 24%, accompanied withincrease in HDL-C by 28% and HDL-C/TC ratio by 66% in dyslipidemic hamster model at the dose of 50mg/kg body weight. The reasonable mapping of compound 2 to validated pharmacophoric hypothesis and 3D QSAR model with an estimated activity (283nM) suggest that the compound 2 might be a beta(3)-AR agonist.”
At a specified lower amount, the compound possesses a thermogenic effect, while at a much higher amount, such as that found in VERSA-1, the compound possesses an anabolic effect. Well, the recommended dosage for aegeline has to be consulted your doctors.
